Beyond staffing

A community that does more than stay online.

We build a Community Layer around Conversion, Retention and Contribution — so more people cross the first meaningful threshold, return with a reason and create signals your project can use.

01

Conversion has a job.

Every arrival is guided toward a meaningful first action — not left as another number in the member count.

02

Retention is designed.

Rhythm, roles and useful knowledge give people a reason to return — and make staying compound over time.

03

Contribution closes the loop.

Feedback, support and advocacy become usable signals for product and growth — not chat activity without an outcome.

Questions teams ask

Before you budget.

How much should you pay moderators?

The calculator opens with a substantial example team, not a minimum: it includes hybrid moderation, an admin, a community manager and content support. A leaner working setup can begin with four global moderators and one community manager for one channel, then grow around the project’s actual needs. The range covers the selected managed team, not an individual salary.

How many moderators does my community need?

It depends on the project stage, scale and operational needs. As a rule, at least four global moderators are needed for reliable coverage and consistent work. The right number is determined by workload rather than member count alone: activity peaks, time zones, response speed, platforms and language coverage all matter.

Why do I need regional moderators?

Only around 20% of the world’s population speaks English. Simply translating announcements is not enough: people engage more readily when information arrives in a familiar language, tone and cultural context. Regional moderators help substantial groups feel understood, preserve meaning and build healthy local branches instead of disconnected side chats.

Can I simply hire active community members?

You can, and many projects do. But without operational experience, people often copy activities they have seen elsewhere without a clear purpose, producing a generic community that looks busy but creates little value. There is also a trade-off: you start paying someone for activity they previously did voluntarily and lose an organically active member. Keep advocates close to the community; let experienced operators own the strategy, systems and accountability.
